Die casting is used when making prototypes. Die casting is a metal casting process that uses a mold cavity to apply high pressure to molten metal, similar to plastic injection molding. Compared with other casting technologies, the die-casting surface is flatter and has a higher dimensional consistency. However, the die-cast prototype model also has many shortcomings.

1. The disadvantage of die casting is that the cost is high. Casting equipment, molds, and mold-related components are expensive compared to other casting methods. Therefore, it is more economical to produce a large number of products when manufacturing die castings.

2. Pores are easy to produce in die castings. Because the metal melt fills the mold cavity at a very high speed during die casting, and the mold material has no air permeability, the die casting produced by the general die casting method is prone to pores.

3. Surface defects, such as cold barriers, bubbles, flow marks, poor molding, dents, peeling, strains, cracks, chipping, deformation, surface tortoise cracks, surface burns, color difference, etc.

4. Die-casting processing materials are relatively few, limited to aluminum alloys, zinc alloys, etc. Plastic materials and silicone materials cannot be processed.
